About this Opportunity:
AMSOIL INC, located in Superior, Wisconsin is looking for a Technical Product Manager accountable for all aspects of product management within the assigned category, including product development, margin management, packaging, product changes, and product advocacy. The Technical Product Manager is also responsible for providing support for the AMSOIL Dealer channel as well as to Wind International and Technical Sales channels.

Responsibilities/Requirements:
Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, advocate, and execute new product developments within assigned market using AMSOIL new product development tools and techniques as well as innovation development tools
  • Identify the need for product upgrades, manage product changes, product retirement, and revisions of reformulations for all products within assigned market area
  • Manage product pricing and costs for optimum gross margin in market category
  • Manage new and revised product packaging and product labeling for assigned market
  • Manage internal and external technical information for all applications, uses, and specifications on products in assigned market
  • Innovatively advocate to improve overall market position by gathering and evaluating consumer wants and needs and highlighting corresponding product benefits through collaboration with Integrated Marketing and Communications Departments
  • Collaborate with Technical Marketing Director to build business cases for technical marketing claims, ensure legal compliance, and to conduct and analyze market research for strategic development
  • Work with the Mechanical Laboratory Manager and Chemical Laboratory Director to test and validate technologies and performance of products
  • Identify and rectify legal and environmental product concerns through legal and compliance departments

 Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience required
  • Demonstrated technical competency
  • High level of aptitude and interest in new product development and innovation
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and provide informal leadership
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Ability to function in a fast-changing environment with competing priorities
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisor, customer (internal and external) and upper management
  • Ability to continuously promote a respectful, positive, and innovative work culture

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or other Technical Discipline
  • Lubricant industry experience and technical knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Experience creating test plans and analyzing results
  • Effective presentation skills for audiences of varying sizes and backgrounds
  • Business and marketing acumen
