Cost Analyst
About this Opportunity:
AMSOIL INC, located in Superior, Wisconsin is looking for a Cost Analyst. The Cost Analyst works as a business partner to the AMSOIL Operations group. By providing accurate cost information to management through collecting and summarizing data, preparing reports, and presenting recommendations, the Cost Analyst is expected to implement and maintain a fully absorbed cost system.
Requirements/Expectations:
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain accuracy of cost standards and variances related to materials, labor, overhead, and freight through monthly cost roll-ups and timely standard setting process annually
- Analyze inbound freight costs related to inventory
- Coordinate inventory audits and raw material cycle counts
- Design and maintain reports related to inventory
- Assist in month-end close of the General Ledger
- Analyze monthly cost of goods sold and report findings in executive summary
- Prepare and analyze LIFO inventory revaluation according to GAAP and report financial impact
- Prepare and maintain margin impact reports to assist in pricing strategy
- Provide support to Operations team for Capital Planning and Business Cases supporting investment decisions
- Support company budgeting and forecasting process
- Support annual financial statement audit
- Perform ad-hoc cost reporting analysis
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance,industrial engineering, or other related discipline or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience in corporate finance and accounting
- Expert-level analytical and financial modeling skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience developing business cases, costing and profitability analyses, margin analysis and recommendations
- Experience and understanding of global business environment
- Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies
- Sound understanding of costing and accounting principles and practices
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly language
- Ability to effectively operate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Self-motivated
- Must be analytical, have a keen attention to detail and think strategically
Preferred:
- Costing and finance experience in the manufacturing industry
- Prior experience working with manufacturing / operations team as a business partner
- Experience preparing and analyzing LIFO inventory revaluation according to GAAP and reporting financial impact
